NBA Finals

Good Evening, (morning?)

As you may or may not know, the NBA finals start tonight. I'm sure that most of my followers out there probably read many other sports blogs and will read other "NBA finals" posts today. So ill try not to sound too redundant (big words!). This was, in my opinion, the best possible match up of all of the playoff teams this year. A rematch from the 2006 finals, the Dallas Mavericks hope to get revenge on the Miami Heat.  The Heat championship victory in 2006 didn't come without its turbulence.  Dwayne Wade had just ok performances in these two games but the Maverick defense and bench scoring led to a 2-0 series lead. The series headed back to Miami where the Heat, led by Wade, would win 3 straight games and force the series back to Dallas. Game 6 of the series was closely fought by both teams, but in the end the Miami Heat would win game 6 and take the championship.

The Mavericks are looking for revenge for their loss in the 2006 season. Mavs owner Mark Cuban criticized the NBA officials of calling "ghost" calls against Heat players in order to sway the game towards the Miami Heat.  Cuban received much criticism from the league over his comments and received a fine for his words. Cuban obviously doesn't like the Heat and is looking to make a bigger impact on the league by putting himself as one of the top owner/managers in the NBA.

My Prediction:
I really think that this series could go either way. I think that because the Heat have the home advantage in the series, that they will win the first two games and possibly take one from the Mavs in Dallas. I believe that the Heat will win in 6 games. But I would not be surprised if the Mavericks win in 6 or 7.

Break from Golf

As an avid golfer, I have a knack for keeping up with "not-so-popular" sports.  One of the sports that I really enjoy is tennis.  As you may or may not know, this last week marked the start of one of the four major championships, The French Open. Tennis and Golf have many similar characteristics that seem to make me attracted to them. First and foremost, both are for the most part individual sports. One competes against himself and one other person in order to win. I guess you could say that i was never any good at teamwork or sharing hence why these sports interest me.

One of the top tennis players that has been in the news recently is Novak Djokovic. At age 24, this man, usually regarded as the 3rd best player in the world (behind Nadal and Federer) has won 43 consecutive tennis matches dating back to last year.  This year, Djokovic has won 41 consecutive matches including 1 of 4 majors.  This streak is downright amazing! Nadal and Federer, who have both won more major championships than Djokovic, don't even have a streak that lasts this long. If Djokovic can keep this up, he will be in conversation as being one of the top players in the world, even better than Nadal or Federer.

Keep watch this week as Djokovic moves into the quarter finals and looks to win his second major of this year, let alone his career.

P.S. Do you like the new look? Been messing with the design. Let me know in the comments below!

Work...

FACK. Need to go to bed at a different time. 430 is just too late to get a good night sleep. Oh well.

Work is at 4pm today. The facking members at my club never tip us workers and are complete douchebags. Making money for college sucks. I really should just drop out of school and try to join the pga tour. My parents hate me because I made a 2.0 GPA my first year. oops... haha too much partying??

Maybe. Yesterday i shot an 82 while golfing. For those of you who are unaware, that isn't too bad but no where near pro material.  I usually gamble money with my friend Nick and made 2 dollars yesterday. meh.

Thanks for stopping by today. Heres a homo quote that somewhat applies:

"All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them."- Walter Disney

Welcome!

I've been hearing all about this whole blogging thing and how its catching on. I realize that i may be a little late to the party, (no different than twitter or facebook) but I digress. I have made a blog that you have found and would like to share who I am.

My name is Erik, I am 19, and love to golf. Everything about the sport intrigues me and try to play it as much as possible. I watch every PGA tour event and work at a golf course near my home.

This is my journey.
